A sum of Rs 97 crore has been prepared for each franchise participating in PSL season 10. From this, the amount of players’ fees and other expenses will be deducted, their sponsorship will be separate. Thus, except for Multan Sultans, the team that paid more than one billion in fees, all the others will benefit.
On the other hand, due to the delay in the account sheets of the teams, the players will receive the final 30 percent compensation in the next few days. League Chief Salman Naseer, who has a “2-member” team, was busy with the Asia Cup matters, which is why the PSL matters are still delayed.
According to the details, Pakistan Super League season 10 was held in April-May this year. Lahore Qalandars won the trophy for the third time. According to sources, in the Finance Committee meeting recently, the league officials told the franchises that they are expecting an income of Rs 97 crore per team from the central pool.
In the ninth edition, almost the same amount was also received. However, it cannot be considered a complete profit because the players’ fees, travel, accommodation and other expenses will be deducted from it. The teams also earned income from their sponsorships etc. By including all this, they will be in a greater profit.
However, Multan Sultans, which pays an annual fee of Rs 1 billion, will have to face a loss this time too. The accounts are not yet finalized and minor changes are possible. The most important issue for the PCB is the recovery of money from some stakeholders. Some issues need to be resolved in this regard. The franchise is waiting for its 50% share due from July 5. Meanwhile, some teams had provided their final account sheets late, due to which the final 30% of the compensation is still to be paid to the players. 70% of the money is given during the event and the rest is received after the final. The PCB pays the players’ fees directly.
In this regard, sources said that after the event is over, the teams send account sheets, in which it is written how much money to give to which player, under the contract, 50 percent fee is given for not playing the match due to injury and 20 percent for not being selected. Some teams do not make any deductions, similarly, some franchises have adopted a policy of distributing the money of the man of the match and other individual awards equally among the entire team, like the Pakistan team.
Teams have their own bonuses and other prizes, hotel and air tickets also change, that is why this sheet is important in payment. Board sources say that the remaining 30 percent of the money will be given to all players in the next few days.
On the other hand, PSL affairs continue to be slow, new COO Salman Naseer has been busy with Asia Cup matters for the past few days, he has only formed his “2-member” team so far. The franchise is also surprised that a temporary appointment has become permanent. Manager Player Acquisition Shoaib Khalid, who had a good reputation among the teams due to his work, resigned recently. Now it will not be easy to find an expert to sign contracts with the players.
It should be remembered that before Season 11, sponsorship, media rights and other agreements, team valuation, fee increase, including 2 new franchises, have to be added. The new window has not been announced yet.
